Over the past 20 years, I've lost count of the number of people I have trained and personally placed into the radio industry, not only in Australia, but also around the world. They include Announcers, Journalists, Music and Program Directors, Copywriters, Promotions and Marketing Personnel, Sales Consultants and Receptionists.
I have developed a recognised ‘one-on-one’ training technique that is tailored to your individual needs, easy to follow, fun while learning and above all, if you're serious, will help you kick a door down to get into radio.
If you possess an enthusiastic passion for radio together with a willingness to learn, I can provide you with the knowledge, motivation and the hands-on experience to prepare you for employment within the radio industry. Click here and I'll email you full info.
We will prove that a positive attitude, hard work and determination, as well as a good solid realistic plan, will take you to where you want to go in this business.
For 20 years we owned and operated a high profile radio school in Melbourne. We sold the facility in March of 2003. Courses were conducted in a classroom environment, with sometimes up to 15 or more students in a class.
Lecture room education is fine for some; however, the trend toward personal 'one-on-one' training has so many rewarding advantages:
· Exclusive personal attention to all skills
· Immediate opportunity to develop your skills
· Perfect environment to build your confidence
· Recognises the uniqueness of your talent
· Lots of time to spend on training you and not a whole class
· We work at a pace comfortable for you
Gary Mac Radio Training is designed to give you the proper training for 'on-air' announcing and presentation, studio disciplines, creative copywriting, understanding the studio audio computer, programming techniques, audio production and more.
You will be given a CD copy of each studio training session so you can check your progress. These will be helpful to you in developing a comfortable, consistent, on-air personality and delivery style.
By the way, computer experience would be a plus but is not essential.
My research shows that people, who consider a career in radio, see themselves ‘working on-air’. The topics we cover will, in a short space of time, bring your understanding of on-air requirements and technique up to an acceptable level. Naturally, by giving consideration to other key areas apart from “just being on-air” can also be beneficial to the end result. In particular those who possess ability in creative copywriting and audio production increase their job prospects considerably.
During your training you will recieve lecture notes, and printed handouts relating to copywriting, the audio computer, speech, voice and breathing exercises and positive advice regarding the job application.
Additional 2-hour “studio hands-on” practice sessions can be arranged to further enhance your studio disciplines.
Upon completion of training, we acknowledge your tuition on a certificate. Studio time spent beyond the initial 25 hours training will also be recognized.
JOB ASSISTANCE
The most important aspect is to find your talent strengths; improve them and to help you realise your ambition of gaining employment within the radio industry. Job assistance will be offered if you possess natural ability, motivation and enthusiasm. It should be noted that some applicants are hired before they have finished their training.
THE RADIO DEMO
When applying for radio announcing positions, or other on-air roles
(i.e. news, sports etc.), you will be required to include a CD demo or mp3 file with your application to demonstrate your ability. Radio stations refer to them as 'AIR-CHECKS'. Should you choose to make a demo at the conclusion of radio training, I will guide you in the requirements of an industry standard demo, or in other words, what commercial radio stations around Australia are listening out for today. Over the years I have produced countless demos that have helped applicants gain employment in a variety of 'on-air' roles.
As I said, if you're serious, I can help you achieve your goals.
Gary Mac Radio Training is conducted daily, Monday to Thursday, at times flexible to your work or personal commitments.(Placements limited)
Training consists of 10 x two and a half hour ‘one-on-one’ sessions.
Enrolments are now being accepted for training to commence June - July 2008. Demand for training is high and placements are limited. Don't leave it too late.
